Class Description

This course serves as an introduction to the study of Business Spanish. The primary goal of the course is to gain experience in verbal communication, so that students can participate in meetings, exchanges, video conferences, presentations, and professional discussions in Spanish and in areas related to finance, marketing, accounting, operations, etc.

Date & Location

This course is 100% online and includes live streaming video. Real-time participation is required during scheduled meeting times.

First class day: Thursday, June 6
Last class day: Thursday, July 11
Final exam: Instructor will provide information.

Required Course Materials

Doyle, Michael Scott, Fryer, T. Bruce. 2019. Éxito Comercial Cengage. Note: Latest is the 7th Edition. It is best to purchase the 6th or 7th edition, but only purchase the actual textbook. There is no need to purchase the digital platform or bundled materials.

Technical Requirements

Reliable internet connection (wired connection is recommended for synchronous interactions and video recordings). A computer with webcam, microphone and headphones.

Class Prerequisites

Intermediate-to-advanced Spanish proficiency, as evidenced by completion of two years of college-level Spanish coursework and at least one Spanish course in writing, grammar, or literature. At UT, this is the equivalent of SPN 327C, 327N, 327V (or 327W), 328C, or 330L.
