In a globalized world, where multilingualism is highly valued, having economics and business knowledge prepares students to widen their professional horizons in international market and to improve their intercultural abilities in their own country. This course is designed for students who do not have necessarily prior business knowledge; is an introduction to the language and culture of business in the Spanish-speaking world. In four modules, relevant topics will be studied for a general understanding of the work market, the economy and cultural differences in Spanish-speaking countries. As a student-centered course, our main goal is to give each of you the opportunity to practice verbal communication and gain confidence in using Spanish in a business setting. The hope is that by the end of the semester you will be more comfortable participating in meetings, exchanges, presentations, and professional discussions about a variety of business-related topics, including corporate structures, finance, marketing, accounting, business plans and labor relations.
Date & Location
This course has no live class meetings, and for the most part can be done on the student's own schedule. There are due dates for all assignments.

Final exam: No exams in this course.

Technical Requirements
Reliable internet connection (wired connection is recommended for synchronous interactions and video recordings). A computer with webcam, microphone and headphones.
Explore business Spanish. Practice verbal communication in the context of meetings, exchanges, video conferences, presentations, and professional discussion, in Spanish and in areas related to finance, marketing, accounting, operations.
The University Extension section of this course does not qualify for the Global Cultures flag.
Intermediate-to-advanced Spanish proficiency, as evidenced by completion of two years of college-level Spanish coursework and at least one Spanish course in writing, grammar, or literature. At UT, this is the equivalent of SPN 327C, 327N, 327V (or 327W), 328C, or 330L.
