Class Description

This course presents topics from algebra, coordinate geometry, and functions needed to provide solid preparation for studying calculus or other courses in college mathematics. It also gives those students who will not take higher level mathematics courses opportunities to investigate and understand this important area of college mathematics and the role it plays in their daily lives.

This course is independent study and is self-paced. Students have five months upon registration in which to complete all coursework and exams.

Textbooks and Materials

There is no required textbook for this course. All readings are provided online.

Technical Requirements

Students are required to use a laptop or desktop computer with a high-speed internet connection. Tablets and smartphones are not supported. The computer should have a modern and updated operating system, at least 2GB of RAM, a webcam, a microphone and also meet Honorlock's system requirements for online testing.

A phone, camera, or scanner to digitize handwritten work for submission online.

Study of advanced functions and their graphs and applications, including exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. Introduction to rates, slopes, and derivatives. M 305G and any college-level trigonometry course may not both be counted. A student may not earn credit for M 305G after having received credit for any calculus course with a grade of at least C-. M 301, 305G, and equivalent courses may not be counted toward a degree in mathematics.

An appropriate score on the mathematics placement exam.
